Industry Placement

Dates: June 2024 until June 2025 - 12 Month Industry Placement

Degree: Biomedical, Mechanical and Electrical/Electronic Engineering. Location: Cork, Ireland.

This position provides the student, as part of their college studies, the experience of working in a regulated medical device company. The student will undertake projects and complete day to day tasks for the engineering Function. Requirement: Placement must form part of University Degree.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • The Student, together with their Manager identifies a process improvement project.
  • Identifies the project charter, objectives, scope, success factors, milestones, and evaluation metrics to deliver on time and in budget.
  • Communicate effectively and coordinate meetings with stakeholders
  • Works in project teams to help deliver and validate new equipment, process improvements, Quality projects and safety enhancements.
  • Perform testing to support day to day production or validation activities.
  • Provides support by completing activities for multiple departments as required.
  • Build understanding of manufacturing process in medical devices and the challenges associated with manufacturing.
  • Develop and implement innovative solutions to improve processes.
  • Foster understanding and application of company problem solving methods such as CAPA’s (Corrective and preventative actions), A3s, fishbones etc
  • Ensures compliance with Quality, Safety and 6S Systems by completing walk throughs and Audits of the manufacturing and office areas.
  • Must submit at least 1 safety observation per month.
  • Organise and partake in company corporate social responsibility events.

Qualifications Knowledge Skills

  • Currently completing a college qualification in a Biomedical, Mechanical or Electrical/Electronic Engineering
  • Must be eligible to work in Ireland for the duration of the placement.
  • Honesty and Integrity essential. Must comply with the quality system, regulations, and company policies
  • Self-motivated, flexible, and hardworking. Enjoys working in a dynamic, fast and results orientated environment
  • Reliable, dependable, and punctual
  • Organised, focused and capable of multi-tasking
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic level of PC skills required
  • Is a team player and capable of working as part of a multi-disciplined team

Requirement: Placement must form part of University Degree.
